Professor Fialho Paloge Juma Nehama completed a Degree in Oceanography in 2004 at Eduardo Mondlane University, and in 2005 was recruited by this university to teach in the Department of Physics. In 2006 he was transferred to the Superior School of Marine and Coastal Sciences in Quelimane. In 2008 he completed a Master's Degree in Applied Physical Oceanography at Bangor University in the United Kingdom. In 2012 he was awarded the degree of Doctor (PhD) in Physical Oceanography by the University of Cape Town in the Republic of South Africa.
The topic of the research carried out during his training and obtaining his Masters and Doctoral degrees was “Study of the dynamics of the plume of the Zambezi River in the Sofala Bank”. However, other topics of interest include the modeling and simulation of coastal hydrodynamics, particularly the dynamics of estuarine and adjacent waters; Information and Communication Technologies in the area of the sea and the coast; Global sea level variations; Design and monitoring of buoys for ocean data transmission; Remote sensing of coastal ecosystems; Dynamics of estuarine systems and ecosystems including sediment transport; Cultivation of marine microalgae for various purposes; Renewable energy applications.
