Dr Hassan J. Ndzovu is a Senior Lecturer of Religious Studies at Moi University in Kenya. He has a PhD degree in Religious Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Dr Ndzovu has also held two Postdoctoral positions at Freie Universität in Germany (2013-2014) and Northwestern University, USA (2010-2011). He is currently (2019-) a Cluster Member of the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence of the University of Bayreuth in Germany. His Research interests are focused on Islam in Africa, especially sub-Saharan Africa, and they revolve around religion and politics/law, religious-based conflict, religious authority within the Islamic tradition, religion and sexuality. Dr Ndzovu's Publications include a book he Co-Authored with Laura Grillo, and Adriaan van Klinken (2019) Religions in Contemporary Africa: An Introduction.
