Kevin Naidoo received his PhD in computational and theoretical chemistry from the University of Michigan and his Postdoctoral training at Cornell University. He then joined the University of Cape Town (UCT) as a Computational Scientist based in the field of chemistry. His contributions range from developing accelerated quantum chemistry code and inventing an algorithm able to model chemical reactions in complex systems such as enzymes. His group has built unique machine learning codes that identify genetic patterns linked to cancer types. This has led to him being the PI on a clinical trial searching for biomarker for early detection of breast cancers. He is Professor of Physical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, Director of the Scientific Computing Research Unit and holds the South African Research Chair in Scientific Computing at UCT. He serve as fellow in the African Academy of Sciences (AAS ) and Royal Society of South Africa (RSSAf) and, is a member of Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf).
