Dr Tiwonge Mzumara-Gawa is an ecologist and conservation biologist working on biodiversity conservation related research. She is particularly interested in understanding the role of species in ecosystems and pioneering the field of Biodiversity Informatics in Malawi. Dr Mzumara-Gawa studied for her BSc in Biology Department at the University of Malawi Chancellor College, Malawi, her MSc in Conservation Biology at the University of Cape Town and her PhD is Ecological Sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. She has published a number of peer reviewed journal articles, contributed to book titles and popular articles. She is currently a lecturer in the Biological Science Department at the Malawi University of Science and Technology.
