Brief Biography (English)

Dr Jonathan Mwamba is an academician and practicing architect in Zambia. He has Lectured for the past 18 years at the Copperbelt University. The vast time of this has been focused on introducing new undergraduate and graduate students to the field of sustainable and environmental design and Architectural design development. Dr Mwamba is also a registered corporate member of the Zambia Institute of Architects, having satisfied the requirements to practice the profession of Architecture in June of 2005. He is involved in consultancy work as a Consulting Architect at JSM Architects. Dr Mwamba currently sits on the Scientific committee of the Zambia Institute of Architects, which is the research organ of the institute.

Dr Mwamba Holds a Doctor of Engineering in Architecture from the prestigious College of Architecture & Urban Planning - Tongji (CAUP- Tongji), University in Shanghai, China, an MSc in Architecture Energy and Sustainability and a Bachelor of Architecture. Jonathan’s research interests cover the vast repertoire of his academic study. Research and study has spanned from investigating thermal comfort, thermal control in buildings and visual comfort related to lighting design and VDU operation in buildings, to studies in Environment-Behaviour Relations (EBR) in the built environment, which seeks to better understand the use and production of  the built space. This is as it relates to both building design and human settlement study and design.
