Brief Biography (English)

Dr Ronel Müller received her BSc in Textiles and Polymer Science from Stellenbosch University in 2010, where after she completed her BSc Chemistry Honours, followed by her MSc at Stellenbosch University (2013) on the design and synthesis of novel HIV NNRTIsv under the supervision of Dr Stephen C. Pelly and Prof Willem A. L. van Otterlo. Ronel remained at Stellenbosch University, for her PhD under the supervision of Dr Katherine A. de Villiers and co-supervision of Dr Pelly graduating in 2017, where she studied the mechanism of β-hematin inhibition by quinoline antimalarial drugs. From 2016 – 2018, Ronel held positions in the South African pharmaceutical and natural product complementary medicine industry including product development at Afriplex and analytical method development for new product ranges at Vital Health Foods. In mid-2019 she was awarded a University of KwaZulu-Natal Research Flagship Postdoctoral Fellowship, under the supervision of Dr Clinton G. L. Veale.
