Professor Raphael Tabani Mpofu is a founding Conference Chair of International Conference on Financial Services, Bi-annual conference series, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019
- Introduced Writing for Publication Workshops/Retreats in the College of Economic and Management Sciences in 2010 leading to almost 2000% increase in research outputs.
- Initiated the first Post-doctoral Fellowship recruitment drive across the African Continent in the College. To date since 2011, 15 post-doctoral fellows from across the African continent have been recruited, publishing in excess of 50 accredited outputs in international journals.
- Adjunct Faculty Drive: Since 2012, he has recruited more than 40 research associates from Ethiopia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Malawi and Kenya that have been appointed as University of South Africa (UNISA) research associates and contributed to the implementation of the African Union, Agenda 2063 framework.
- Graduate (Staff) Development Fellowship Programme: he successfully sourced more than R90million rands from the Department of Higher Education and Training to finance the programme through the Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP) grant, with more than 135 young South African graduates benefiting from the programme.
- Incubator@Unisa: Pioneered the setting up of an incubator at University of South Africa (UNISA) in collaboration with Georgia Tech Institute of Technology. Looking at incubating more than 50000 student business ideas by 2025.
- African Union Agenda 2063: Since 2015 I have been driving the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between University of South Africa (UNISA) and the African Union Commission.
