RESEARCH PROJECTS

  • Co-Investigator on the UK-SA project for Co-Designing Community-Based ICTs Intervention to Enhance Maternal and Child Health in South Africa started May 2020. Institutions involved – Cardiff University, UL, UCT, HSRC and WITS – 2020 May to date.
  • VLIR UOS Network Project on international network for project on self-care approach for Type 2 diabetes mellitus – Countries involved are Cambodia, Vietnam, Belgium, Bolivia and South Africa started March 2020. A country Leader
  • Co-Investigator for SPICES project. Involved in the project since January 2018 to date. Countries involved is UK, France, Belgium, Uganda and South Africa
  • Co-Principal investigator for SAMRC funded project title: Strengthening health systems for maternal care in Limpopo Province: A Multisectoral approach South Africa. Since 2017 to date.
  • A Deputy Project Leader for UL VLIR UOS Project 2: Prevention, control and integrated management of chronic diseases in a rural community in South Africa. A collaboration between University of Limpopo and University of Antwerp in Belgium since 2015 to 2018
  • Chairperson of the University of Limpopo School of Health Sciences Research Ethics Committee from 2014 January to 2018 January.
  • Conducted a research study for “A situational analysis of the HIV and AIDS and TB and Gender Based Violence Interventions in Vhembe and Capricorn Districts in Limpopo province” as a Senior Research for Irish Aid 2013 July to September. Masazi Development Associates Project Funded by Irish Aid.
  • Conducted a study for “Evaluation of the UNFPA 3rd Country Programme of Assistance to the Government of South Africa”. 2011 November to April 2012. Responsible for Reproductive Health and HIV and AIDS aspects. Funded by UNFPA. Report available on internet.
  • In 2008 to 2009 I was involved in a project to develop a curriculum for Professional Nurses working at Primary Health Clinics on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Indigenous Knowledge System in Health Care for Department of Health
