Dr Yusuf Moosa Motara teaches modules centered around practical functional programming and software development at Rhodes University in South Africa and retains a keen interest in first-year Computer Science education and how best to equip students with the necessary skills and understandings to be top-class software developers. His current research is focused on the functional programming paradigm and enhancing its applicability to a broader range of problems. This involves, inter alia, finding ways in which to make the paradigm accessible; finding ways in which to model it; and discovering the ways in which functional systems are designed. Other interests are Computer Science education, software development, and information security.
