Prof. Morenikeji had a MIM/TDR postdoctoral fellowship for training at the Division of Parasitology, National Institute of Medical Research, London, and a TWAS-DBT postdoctoral fellowship for training at the National Institute of Malaria Research Delhi, India. She has a certificate in International Health Research Ethics from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, USA. The thrust of her research is epidemiology, transmission, and control of tropical parasitic diseases with special emphasis on guinea worm, malaria, schistosomiasis, and helminths – studying immunological interplay during parasite co-existence with other conditions, screening medicinal plants, applying GIS, remote sensing and nanotechnology. She is currently working on soil-transmitted helminth distribution patterns in association with environmental variables and interactions of heavy metal pollutants with intestinal parasites in rodents from polluted areas. She has over 100 publications and four books. She is passionate about biodiversity conservation and as Director of her University’s zoo (2010 to 2016), she brouAght about a first of its kind landmark transformation since its inception in 1948 with University Management commendation and several awards. The US Government invited her to the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). She is Fellow Zoological Society of Nigeria, pioneer President Nigerian Association of Zoos and Parks, Chair Pangolin Conservation Guild Nigeria, and Member International Union for the Conservation of Nature.
