Dr William Moloto is a postdoctoral fellow at Mintek, where he specialises in development of wearable sensor for medical applications. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of South Africa (UNISA), where his research focused on the Development of POM/MOF-decorated carbon-based quantum dot materials as light harvesting for dye-sensitized solar cell application
During his Doctoral studies, Dr Moloto published peer reviewed articles in high-impact journals and also presented at conferences. his research demonstrated that the modification of TiO2 with polyoxometalate (POM) and metal organic framework (MOF) can improve the optical and electrochemical properties of the semiconductor, allowing the use of sunlight. He further decorated the TiO2 based nanocomposite with carbon-based quantum dots, and thereby improving the charge transfer kinetics and the energy efficiency of TiO2 based dye sensitized solar cell.
Currently, Dr. Moloto's Postdoctoral research is centered on the development of flexible wearable device for health monitoring. he collaborates with an interdisciplinary team of chemists, mathematicians and engineers to explore innovative approaches to develop the device.
