Dr Nthabiseng Mohlakoana has 20 years of experience in research focusing on energy access and use, gender and development in the low-income urban and rural areas. Her international research work experience emphasizes the importance of energy and gender equality in planning and implementation of energy and other basic services interventions dictated by policies. She is a co-editor of the book titled ‘Engendering the Energy Transition’ which highlights the importance of applying a gender lens in energy transitions.
Dr Mohlakoana's current work on Energy Transition aims to bring focus to the issue of energy poverty and development as energy systems transition to low-carbon and sustainable practices. Her work aims at finding solutions that address and lead to the eradication of energy poverty experienced by women and men in low-income urban and rural areas in the Global South.
