Albert Thembinkosi Modi is a Professor of Crop Science, specializing in plant physiology, agronomy, and crop modelling, and water relations at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is interested in the integration of indigenous knowledge systems into agricultural science. Since 1994, he has supervised and graduated 40 Masters and 23 PhD students. He is currently the Associate Editor of many national and international journals; a member of the Academy of Science of South Africa panel on AET; acting Chairman of the National Agricultural Research Forum of the South African Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries. His national and international awards include the WRC Award for Capacity Development and Distinguished Alumni of the Ohio State University.
