Brief Biography (English) Professor Daniela Merolla is a Professor in Amazigh/Berber Literature and Art at the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO), Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (Sorbonne Paris-Cité). Her work investigates intertextuality and multilingualism in African oral and written literatures, cinema, and websites. She developed the notion of “Amazigh/Berber literary space” to study literary interactions in contexts characterised by multilingualism and by multiple circuits of oral, written and new media literary and artistic production. Merolla established the audiovisual series on oral performances Verba Africana thanks to an international network of researchers and universities and in cooperation with the World Oral Literature Project. The Verba Africana series publishes video recording of oral performances online for documentation, research, and the e-learning of African oral languages and literatures. The video recording of African oral genres, such as poems, songs and tales, is integrated into the presentation of relevant aspects, such as language, form, content, performance, literary, social and historical context.
