Brief Biography (English)

Dr David Marneweck's research focuses on understanding the ecology of large carnivores in southern Africa. He has Published peer-reviewed papers that primarily focus on the endangered African wild dog (Lycaon pictus).

He has also worked on the ground conservation of wild dogs for five years at the Endangered Wildlife Trust, giving him a unique industry experience in his field.

Dr Marneweck currently works within the Wildlife Ecology Lab at Nelson Mandela University, in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, focusing on developing optimization algorithms for rapid classification of camera trap photographs for community ecology and protected area management studies.
