Dr Manickum after obtaining PhD in Chemistry, at the then University of KwaZulu-Natal (1993), worked for 3 years at Fine Chemicals, then for 10 years as Medical Scientist, at Chemical Pathology (NHLS/DOH/), at IALC Hospital, Cato Manor. He Joined Umgeni Water in 2008 as Senior Scientist. Have published research papers in high impact factor scientific journals, currently 24, and 14 as first/senior/corresponding author. Currently a Principal Scientist at Research&Development, Umgeni Water (Pietermaritzburg, KZN). Research interests, knowledge, and skills are laboratory planning/startup, laboratory management, water quality, mass spectrometry, all facets of chromatography, 2D/GCXGC, PCR, flow cytometry, ISO 17025 Quality Management Systems, method development and validation, Root cause Analysis, 2-dimensional GCxGC-MS, Contaminants of Emerging Concern, mentorship/training, HR management, auditing.
