Brief Biography (English)

Dr Zelo Anatole Mangombo holds a PhD Degree in the field of Natural Science (Chemistry as a major subject) from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa, in 2010. During his studies, he gained more knowledge and experience in laboratory work using different techniques and methods. With his experience in a managerial position, he worked for more than 7 years in the South African Police Service (SAPS), attached to the Chemistry Section of the Forensic Science Laboratory in Cape Town, as a Chief Forensic Analyst (Assistant Director). He managed 24 Forensic Analysts under his supervision. Amongst others, his main duties were such as managing, coaching or mentoring, and supervising members daily by ensuring that good performance and quality in place are maintained at all times. He coordinated the Research and Development within Chemistry Section at the South African Police Service (SAPS) - Forensic Science Laboratory in Pretoria.

His main duties were, amongst others, such as preparing a research plan and resources to meet targets, implementing efficient project management to achieve targets, and participating in cross-platform research with different stakeholders and/or government or academia including participating in the relevant conferences. Other duties are including allocating projects to members for their further studies to benefit the organisation and publishing one peer-reviewed article annually in a recognised scientific journal with a greater impact factor. He went the extra mile to coordinate the PhD and Masters students who were members of the organisation and busy studying Part-time in the relevant Universities or Institutions. Dr Mangombo is an analytical thinker with strong communication and problem-solving skills. He is a passionate, self-driven, and determined person who is willing to go the extra mile to achieve objectives and planned results. He likes to work under pressure and overtime to achieve the target as per assigned tasks. Based on his good performance, he was promoted to the higher position of Deputy Director in the SAPS- Research Component, where he has been involved in various research projects for the organisation and in the process, he displayed valuable competence in planning and rolling out of research projects.

Amongst others, his duties were as leading a research team and conducting research; collecting data, facilitating focus groups and round table discussions, as well as facilitating breakaway sessions during colloquia. Although, Dr Mangombo is caring in nature and as such applies the same caring approach during his research projects. As a researcher, he lives up to a high standard of research ethics. He takes the notions of benevolence and maleficence very seriously. While being a published quantitative researcher in the Natural Sciences, he has also proven his competence in qualitative research in the Social Sciences. Currently, he mastered and excelled in both worlds of research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative). As manager and leader, Dr Mangombo has often managed my research projects without fail. He is a target-driven person, both in his personal and professional capacities. Junior personnel finds it easy to work with him as a leader, work among and with his people. Dr Mangombo is thus a valued colleague and team player with the intention to grow within the research and education system. He has lectured, and research skills obtained while lecturing at a local university in South Africa.

His career objective is to find a challenging position to meet his competencies, capabilities, skills, mentorship, and laboratory experience as well as to become part of a prominent organization that has a vision and potential for development, growth, and expansion.
