Brief Biography (English)

Dr Vusani Mandiwana started her career as a Laboratory Assistant and Tutor at the Department of Microbiology, University of Venda in 2008, where she taught Microbiology, Botany and Biology to undergrad students. She worked as a Research Assistant between 2010 and 2011, in the HIV and Hepatitis Unit, Department of Virology, University of Limpopo, MEDUNSA Campus, South Africa, where she was responsible for the coordination of Virology research projects in HIV and Hepatitis B and C as well as the database management of research projects. She worked as a Medical Scientist (intern) between 2011 and 2012 at the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), Tuberculosis Diagnostic and Research unit, South Africa, where she took on the responsibility of conducting laboratory and field research in tuberculosis. From 2012 to 2019, she was a Research Student (North-West University), hosted by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) while conducting research to fulfil her MSc and PhD degrees. During this time she was responsible for the management of preclinical studies and project management of her research programs.
