Dr Jane Edith Mallewa is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, HIV Medicine and pharmacology. She is clinically qualified and active: her clinical work being at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH), the main tertiary and teaching hospital in Malawi.
As Head of Internal Medicine, she head and foresee the following programs:
- The clinical years and modules of the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Pharmacy and physiotherapy programs
- Master in Medicine (MMed) in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine
- Postgraduate Diploma in HIV Medicine. She developed the curriculum for this course which has been implemented since January 2018
- Bachelor of Science in Internal Medicine program for upgrading clinical officers.
- Tropical Medicine in Practice (TMIP) course, an internationally renowned 2-4 week course, with doctors from many countries especially Europe participating.
Dr Mallewa is a postgraduate Doctor of Medicine (MD) from University of Liverpool, United Kingdom in HIV medicine and pharmacology. As such she has developed HIV related modules both for undergraduate and postgraduate level training. She therefore lead in clinical HIV care and research occurring in the Department of Medicine and Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH). She has been a Data and Safety Monitoring Board Member - A Phase 2A, Randomised, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Evaluation of the Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics and Efficacy of Clofazimine (CFZ) in Cryptosporidiosis Trial (University of Washington, CFZ-001 (CC-ID8)
