Dr Shem Wambugu Maingi, PhD is a Lecturer in Tourism Management at the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Kenyatta University in Kenya. He has been working in the University for the last ten (11) years as both a researcher and Lecturer. He is an expert member of the International Scientific Committee on Cultural Tourism of ICOMOS (ICTC) as well as a member of the IUCN WCPA Tourism and Protected Areas Specialist Group TAPAS. Currently, he is pursuing grant research on Cultural ecosystems services and Tourism post-COVID within heritage sites in Kenya. His areas of research and specialization are Sustainable Tourism Development from a developing country context, Overtourism research, Tourism adragogy studies as well as Destination marketing and management. He is committed to research and academic development and is pursuant of these values in East Africa. Dr Maingi is a distinguished scholar who has published eleven (11) academic papers in refereed journals internationally, one of which received a joint award as article of the year 2011 as well as four book chapters in referred books. In 2021, he has co-edited a scholarly book published by Emerald Publishing Group. He is committed to research and academic development and is pursuant of these values in East Africa.
