Brief Biography (English)

Dr Mansour Mahamane currently works at the University of Diffa and focus in the fields of GIS based technologies, geospatial, land use/land cover dynamics, landscape structure, land degradation, modelling in relation to climate change processes and agro-environmental monitoring using medium to high resolution optical data, radar data and integration of information derived from multiple methods such as stakeholders knowledge, remote sensing data, field data, geospatial data and Bayesian Belief Networks.

Dr Mahamane holds a doctorate in Geoinformatics applied to natural resource management supported at the University of Tübingen, officially the Eberhard Karl University of Tübingen in Germany, a Master of advanced studies in forest engineering, a Master of advanced studies in Technique information system applied to forestry and the environment and an agricultural engineer diploma option agroeconomics and rural development, and strong international professional experience.

As international professional experience, Dr Mahamane was a researcher at the Role of Culture in Early Expansions of Humans” (ROCEEH) Project in Germany and the Abrupt Changes in Ecosystem Services (ACES) Project in England. During his work at Abrupt Changes in Ecosystem Services (ACES) and wellbeing in Mozambican woodlands" in England, he had to acquire a strong professional experience consisting not only of participating in the development of reports, in the management of spatial database, publications and research work but also in teaching and supervision work, which allowed him to deepen the theoretical and practical knowledge that he had acquired at the University of Tübingen, the University of Eberswalde in Germany, the University of Warsaw in Poland and the Federal University of Minna in Nigeria.

Since 2017, he has been a teacher-researcher at the University of Diffa, and following a call for applications in September 2020, currently an expert in data and science at L Agrhymet /Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS) in the SERVIR West Africa program.
