Brief Biography (English)

Lihle Mafu graduated with a BSc in Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of Eswatini (UNISWA) in 2010 and moved to Johannesburg to further his studies by enrolling for a Master of Science degree at the University of Johannesburg after a short stint as an educator in the Kingdom of Eswatini. Lihle then joined the North-West University, through funding from the Chemical Resource Beneficiation Unit and the Unit for Energy and Technology Systems, for Doctoral training under the supervision of Professors Hein Neomagus, Ray Everson, John Bunt and Christien Strydom on the characterization and co-firing of biomass and coal for syngas production. He has authored and co-authored several research articles in leading and reputable international journals, presented his research both in local and international audiences in conferences, seminars and workshops. This work has been on characterization of materials, reaction kinetics, adsorption kinetics and thermodynamics as applied both in energy and fuels and in water quality and treatment. He continues to engage in teaching, research and community engagement as a lecturer and researcher at UNISWA.
