Brief Biography (English)

Associate Professor Candice Livingston is a C3 NRF rated researcher at the Faculty of Education at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She is the Research co-ordinator, the Faculty Language coordinator and also manages the B.Ed. Hons degree. She serves on the Faculty Language, Research, Ethics and Teaching and Learning committees, as well as Senate. Prof Livingston is currently the Chair of the Education Association of South Africa. She is also a member of the English National Language Body which is a subcommittee of the Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) and a Review Panel member for the Humanities Book Award (ASSAf). Furthermore, she serves on the council of the English Academy of Southern Africa. She is also involved with numerous literacy projects (both nationally and internationally) and has presented courses on reading comprehension, writing and metacognition for the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute (CTLI) of the Western Cape Education Department as well as serving on the Provincial subject committee: Languages (English). Her research and supervision interests focus on ethics in teaching, teaching with technology, English language and literacy studies, fairy tales and decolonising the English curriculum. In 2019 and 2021, she received Teaching Excellence Awards from CPUT and is a Teaching Advancements at University (TAU) fellow.
