Dr. Lawal is a fellow at the Royal Geographical Society and the Higher Education Academy. He worked and taught extensively in Germany and the United Kingdom. He is passionate about the application of geospatial technologies across various fields, and carried out research and consultancy across multidisciplinary and collaborative projects. Dr Lawal possesses a wealth of experience and training in quantitative techniques, GIS, spatial data analysis, and modelling. Across his work, he has leveraged the development in geospatial sciences and technologies in addressing issues around sustainability, adaptability, vulnerability, resilience, and environmental challenges. He also teaches across various areas including, disaster risk management, risk reduction, and developed frameworks for the assessment of vulnerability and resilience in Nigeria. Current research works include Geospatial Science for Disaster Risk Reduction, Big Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence for understanding social, environmental, economic, and political issues. With his knowledge and experience, he has developed new ways and insights on the application of AI, geospatial science and technologies in addressing social, economic, and environmental issues.
