Professor Olusegun Adebayo Lawal is in the Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye. He is the current DEAN at the Faculty of Science. He was admitted into the Department of Zoology at the University of Ibadan, for his first degree 1989-1992, and his Master's degree in Entomology 1994-1995 from the same department. He banged his PhD degree in Zoology (Entomology/Apiculture) from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, in the year 2009. He started his career at Ogun State University now Olabisi Onabanjo University as an Assistance Lecturer from 1996-2000; Lecturer 11 from 2000 -2003; Lecturer 1 from 2003 –2007; Senior Lecturer from 2007-2010; Reader from 2010-2014; and Professor from 2014 to date.
He had supervised final year students’ projects and a good number of Postgraduate Dissertations and Theses. He was awarded the best Academic Staff at the Faculty of Science at Olabisi Onabanjo University in 2014 and in 2017. He received the Award of Excellent Performance in the Faculty of Science (Departmental Personality of the year) in 2016. He was also awarded the Scholarship for Position as a visiting research scholar in the molecular research laboratory, Department of Plant Science, McGill University, Canada, in the year 2007.
Professor Lawal is an erudite scholar and has over 50 published articles in his field of specialization, Entomology and Zoology in reputable journals both local and international. He has attended many conferences, workshops, and Science meetings where he presented papers and postal at both local and international levels. He is a member of the following associations: Zoological Society of Nigeria; the Entomological Society of Nigeria; Science Association of Nigeria; and Entomological Society of Southern Africa.
His administrative duties include Coordinator of Departmental Internship Training (Biological Sciences); Departmental Post Graduate Coordinator. Ag; Head of Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology; Acting Sub Dean, Faculty of Science; Member of the Faculty Board of Science; Coordinator of Science Laboratory Technology Program (SLT); Faculty of Science Representative at the University's Student Disciplinary Committee; Sub Dean of Faculty of Science; Chairman of Faculty of Science Budget Committee; Chairman of Faculty of Science Postgraduate Committee; Member of the Academic Sub Committee of the Development Committee; Member of the Committee of Postgraduate school ICT/Plagiarism Checker; Director of SIWES OOU; Senate Representative in University Health Services Committee; Member of Investment Committee on OOU Industrial park and incubation Centre; Editor of the African Journal of Nature and Science (University-based journal); Director of General and Entrepreneurial Studies; and Senate Representative in Appointment and Promotions Committee.
