Brief Biography (English)

Dr Idowu Kolawole is an economist and a capacity developer. He attained a PhD degree in Natural Resource Management and a Masters of Economics both from the University of Botswana. Dr Kolawole also has a BSc Honours in Economics from University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He attended Joint Facilities for Electives (JFE) at the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), in Nairobi, Kenya where he specialised in Managerial and Health Economics. In addition, he attended various training programs including Research Methodology, Health Economics at the Organisation for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and the World Bank. He has interest in areas such as managerial, health & tourism economics, biodiversity conservation, industrialisation, industrial policy and infrastructure, entrepreneurship, business finance, international trade & development. Dr Kolawole has over 15 years of experience in lecturing, training and research. He also worked at the Health Research Unit and the Department of Policy, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in the Ministry of Health, Botswana. At the Ministry, he participated actively in the development of the World Health Organization (WHO) project on National Health Accounts for Botswana before joining the academic community. He has taught and supervised research projects in tertiary institutions including University of Botswana, Limkokwing University, Botswana Open University (BOU), Institute of Development Management (IDM). Furthermore, Dr Kolawole is an Adjunct Supervisor for PhD degree programme at University of Namibia. Currently, Kolawole is a Senior Consultant at the Dreamville College of the Institute of Economic Research of Africa (IERA) in Botswana. Dr. Kolawole has published in journal articles and presented papers locally, regionally and at the international conferences. He has also authored two Economics textbooks, (Economics Made Easy for Botswana (2007) and Economics Simplified (2013), for students in tertiary institutions in Botswana and Africa at large. Dr. Kolawole is a manuscript reviewer for international journals.
