Dr Marleen Kock is jointly appointed as a Principal Medical Scientist/Professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology at the Tshwane Academic Division/University of Pretoria where she is involved in the teaching and training of registrars, intern medical scientists, postgraduate students and undergraduate medical and allied healthcare students. Her research program focuses mainly on the characterisation of important antimicrobial resistant Gram-negative pathogens (Acinetobacter baumannii, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) to elucidate the pathogens’ characteristics linked to their emergence and spread in the private and public healthcare setting.
