Gerhard Kemp is professor of international and transnational criminal justice at the University of Derby, United Kingdom, and an extraordinary professor in the Department of Public Law at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Gerhard serves on the board of directors and executive committee of the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR), Cape Town, and is a member of the advisory council of the Crimes Against Humanity Initiative, Whitney R Harris World Law Institute, Washington University (St Louis), USA. He was previously an Erasmus Mundus visiting scholar at the Institute for Global Studies, University of Wroclaw, Poland, and a senior research fellow at the Robert Bosch Stiftung, Berlin, Germany. Gerhard is a recipient of the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship and is also a fellow of the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS). In addition to his research, teaching and community involvement, Gerhard is also active in the broader academic community and is the regional editor of the Criminal Law Forum (Springer/Nature). He serves on the editorial boards of The Journal of Criminal Law (SAGE), South African Yearbook of International Law (Juta), the South African Journal of Criminal Justice (Juta), and the Zeitschrift für Internationales Strafrechtsdogmatik (ZIS). Gerhard is an editor and founding member of the International Criminal Justice in Africa project, supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s Rule of Law Programme (Nairobi, Kenya).
