Dr Hendrex W. Kazembe-Phiri is a Mechanical Engineer holding Engineering Doctorate Degree in Power or Energy that he obtained from at Hiroshima University, Japan. He is currently working as Senior Petroleum and Machinery Engineer (Oil & Gas) and Research Scientist in Farm Power & Machinery Engineering in the Ministry of Agriculture in the Department of Agricultural Research Services (DARTS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources and Department of Geology. DARS is one of the Malawi Government Departments, which is non-profit making and conducting energy (oil and gas) production research to optimize energy production for both agricultural and industrial productivity through enhanced participation, research and development to produce sustainable sources of power (oil and gas) for both industrial and agricultural machinery/mechanization purposes. He has accumulated over 27 years of both hands-on and professional experience in demand-driven R &D technologies in oil and gas production by collaborating with both national and international petroleum/minerals engineering institutions. So far, he has been actively collaborating with “Shore Stream” British-based Petroleum Company currently carrying out oil & gas exploration employing petroleum geology, geophysics, designing, testing, and implementing efficient methods for extracting petroleum products from the earth seafloor.
