Dr Chenjerayi Kashangura has 25 years’ experience in Molecular Biology and Microbiology with 14 years spent in lecturing and research at the University of Zimbabwe and Kutsaga Research Station. He obtained an honors degree in Biological Sciences specializing in Genetics and Microbiology at the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Zimbabwe in 1999. He completed his doctorate degree (D. Phil.) in 2010 at the University of Zimbabwe in the field of myco-biotechnology. Since under-graduation in 1999, he worked for the University of Zimbabwe mushroom project as the research student, then technical leader from 2004 and as a medical research officer (Water and Sanitation and Hygiene Division) at the National Institute of Health Research (formerly Blair Research Laboratory, Zimbabwe) from 2007 to 2008. He has lectured undergraduate courses in genetics and microbiology at the University of Zimbabwe on a full-time basis from 2005 to 2007 and on a part-time basis from April 2008 to 2020. Dr Kashangura has also experience in Plant Breeding.
