Brief Biography (English)

Prof Bavesh Kana is a Full Professor at the Centre of Excellence for Biomedical TB Research, University of the Witwatersrand, and the National Health Laboratory Service. He is also a Research Associate: Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA) and the Research Fellow at the Stellenbosch University. He obtained his PhD at the University Witwatersrand and has worked in several US institutions. He is also an Early Career Scientist of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, was selected as one of the 200 top young South Africans by the Mail and Guardian newspaper, and recently received the Titan award for outstanding medical contribution to South Africa and the SADC region.
