Mr Ivan Kahwa is a passionate scientist interested in natural products chemistry and phytomedicine. He is a PhD candidate in Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. He is well-equipped with skills for conducting research related to natural products. He has carried out various studies on ethnobotany, phytochemistry and antimicrobial resistance. Currently, he is a guest researcher at the Institute for Drug Discovery, Department of Pharmaceutical Biology, University of Leipzig, Germany. He is also a Research Fellow at the prestigious Africa Centre of Excellence, Pharm-Biotechnology and Traditional Medicine Centre (PHARMBIOTRAC) hosted at Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Mbarara, Uganda. He is also Herbprenuer, running a small-scale company (Kivanwoods Herbal Products) which makes different herbal remedies such as Rheumaheal (for Rheumatoid arthritis), Janren (for renal system), LiverProtect (for maintaining a healthy liver),PileRelief (for internal piles), Mal-Relief (for Malaria fever) among others.
