Professor Karien Jooste has been an academic in the tertiary environment (since 1986), focusing on leadership development. Held senior academic positions at the University of Namibia, University of South Africa (UNISA), University of Johannesburg, University of the Western Cape and Cape Peninsula University of Technology. First Professor appointed in the Department of Nursing at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She is currently appointed in the research unit of the Faculty of Health and Wellness Sciences at Cape Peninsula University of Technology, and a Research associate at the University of Limpopo. Internationally served as Honorary Professor of the University of Swansea in Wales and currently visiting professor at The International University of Management, Namibia.
Prof Jooste is an editorial board member and professional editor of several national journals, and was professional editor (Africa region) and board member of the International Journal of Nursing Management. Served as South African Nursing Council member for 5 years on the law and the professional conduct committees. Obtained Hall of Fame, Fellow of the Nursing Academy in South African prestigious awards for Nursing in South Africa, an esteemed author award by Juta. A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, the highest prestigious award bestowed on a nurse in the United States of America.
Prof Jooste is an Editor of 7 healthcare related books. A new book on Research in Health has been approved to be written. He is South Africa’s National Research Foundation (NRF) rated researcher C2.
