Dr Mosimanegape Jongman is an Academic and Researcher of Applied Microbiology at the University of Botswana. He obtained his PhD at the University of Pretoria, his MSc and Bachelor of Science at the University of Botswana in 2007 and 2010, respectively. For his PhD Research, he worked with Prof Lise Korsten while Prof Krishna Khare supervised his MSc project. The focus of his PhD thesis work was on human pathogens associated with formal and informal food chains. In this project, next-generation sequencing technologies and other molecular methods were used to characterize microbial populations and pathogens of interest. After completing his PhD, Dr Jongman accepted a position as a Postdoc Researcher at the University of Pretoria. During that time, he worked on microbiomes associated with fresh produce. He also collaborated with Dr Malick Bill for alternative postharvest treatments of avocado using thyme oil.
