Dr Jones specialises in the field of Linguistics. She has particular interest in phenomena such as language maintenance and preservation, endangered languages of southern Africa, language acquisition, language attitude, language education policy, and language contact. She has expertise in topics related to endangered languages in southern Africa and has worked collaboratively with the following languages so far: Ju|'hoansi,!Xun, Khwe, N|uu, Nama (Khoekhoegowab), and Kora (!Ora). These languages were previously known as Khoisan (or Khoesan languages) however today are more accurately referred to as three separate language families, namely: Ju, Tu, and Khoe.
