Dr Jerardino was born in South America, Chile, where she obtained She BSc at the University of Chile in 1986. The gained ecological knowledge gained then marked the emphasis of my archaeological studies later in productive ways. Since worked towards and obtaining her PhD in 1996, She has focused on the Holocene archaeology and palaeoecology of hunter-gatherers of the west coast of South Africa. Dr Jerardino is a specialist in archaeomalacology (analysis of marine shells in archaeological contexts). She also participated in projects in Pinnacle Point (Mossel Bay) and Pondoland, where research questions around earliest human behavior and coastal adaptations during glacial periods, respectively, were central to these endeavors. In her early career, also gained fruitful years in the heritage management sector (Heritage Western Cape and the South African Heritage Resources Agency) between 2003 and 2009, where she was able to motivate the legal protection of two archaeological sites as provincial heritage sites as well as liaise with other government offices and the private sector around the evaluation of environmental impact assessments. Later, She was appointed as a Research Professor at the Catalan Institution for Advanced Studies in Barcelona (2010-2015), and also taught at undergraduate and Masters level at the University of Chile (2015-2016). Currently, a Research Associate at the University of South Africa and continue to make a productive contribution while publishing in international journals in collaboration with other scientists and as a sole author as well.
