Prof Vain Jarbandhan is the former Head of Department of Public Management and Governance and is currently the Acting Director: Centre for Public Management and Governance in the College of Business and Economics, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. His academic area of interest focuses on, inter alia, public sector human resource management, future-fit leadership and development and good governance. He is an experienced and registered educator. He served on the Executive Committee of the Association and Schools of Southern African Departments of Public Administration and Management (ASSADPAM) and had the privilege to serve as the Chief Editor of Administratio Publica, a journal accredited by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) for the period 2015 -2019. His experience as Head of Department at the University of Johannesburg has underpinned his strong background in all aspects of strategic management, people development, competency assessment, organisational transformation and design. He also possesses a high level of interpersonal interaction combined with sound problem analysis capacity. Furthermore, he possesses well-developed communication, planning and organisation skills, with a strong aptitude to motivate and train teams and individuals in order to transfer skills, with high levels of cognitive and emotional capacity. Prof Jarbandhan is committed to mentoring, empowering and enabling students and junior staff to become self-directed, life-long learners who can make an impact on themselves and their environments. He also serves on the expert panel of Innovating Governance, an international NGO based in Vienna, Austria. Prof Jarbandhan is a C 2 rated NRF researcher.
