Brief Biography (English)

Dr. Beckley Ikhajiagbe is an academic and a research scientist with deep interests in Ecophysiology and Environmental Biotechnology. He holds a PhD in Ecophysiology & Bioremediation Technology from the University of Benin, Nigeria.

He is a Professor in the Department of Plant Biology and Biotechnology, University of Benin, Nigeria. His chosen field of interests is primarily to fuel the drive for a sustainable environment. His research focus spans through hazardous waste management and restoration biotechnology; plant-microbial interactions; plant environmental stress tolerance mechanisms and development; soil microbiology; environmental mutagenetic studies; water and wastewater treatment; environmental impact assessment; as well as sustainable resource use and environmental sustainability coping strategies. He fuses these thematic areas in the new trending aspect of science niche, Bioeconomy.

Prof Ikhajiagbe has over 220 publications in research journal articles, monographs, and books; and has presented over 50 papers in local, national and international conferences as well as invited presentations.

He is a member of several learned societies including Nigeria Environmental Society, Biotechnology Society of Nigeria, Botanical Society of Nigeria, Genetics Society of Nigeria, Nigeria Society for Experimental Biology, Freshwater Biological Association of Nigeria, Society for Underutilized Legumes, and the Nigerian Bioinformatics and Genomics Network, to mention a few. He also present good mentorship capabilities. Admissibly, he has hosted a number of international exchange students through International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE).

He welcomes postgraduate and/or exchange students as well as all levels of collaborations.
