Brief Biography (English)

Professor Peter Adebayo Idowu is a Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. He received MPhil (Computer Science) and PhD (Computer Science) from Aston University, England, United Kingdom and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. His research focus is on Applied Computing that is application of computing to address and solve health related problems in Sub Saharan Africa. He developed the first Health Data Model for Nigeria. He is currently researching into HIV/AIDS, Sickle Cell Anaemia, Sex Classification Model, Disease Modelling and Cloud Computing in health care delivery.

Prof Idowu is a Member of British Computer Society, Internet Society Nigeria Chapter, Nigerian Computer Society, Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria, Nigerian Young Academy, International Geospatial Society, International Association of Engineers and International Federation of Information Processing WG 9.4. His research interest includes Health Informatics, Data Mining, Software Engineering, Geographical Information System, and Informatics. Within the last ten years,  he has successively trained over 30 postgraduate students (including PhD). He has published over 120 scientific research articles in journals and referred conference proceedings.  He is blessed with three Research Associates; Iyinoluwa, Iyanuoluwa and Inioluwa. He enjoys reading and driving.

Peter Adebayo Idowu est professeur d'informatique au Département d'informatique et d'ingénierie de l'Université Obafemi Awolowo, Nigéria. Idowu est titulaire d'une maîtrise (informatique) et d'un doctorat (informatique) de l'Université Aston, Birmingham, Royaume-Uni et de l'Université Obafemi Awolowo, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Ses recherches portent sur l'informatique appliquée, c'est-à-dire l'application de l'informatique pour aborder et résoudre les problèmes liés à la santé en Afrique subsaharienne. Il a développé le premier modèle de données de santé pour le Nigeria. Il mène actuellement des recherches sur le VIH/SIDA, la drépanocytose, le modèle de classification par sexe, la modélisation des maladies et le cloud computing dans la prestation des soins de santé.
