Brief Biography (English)

Dr Mohammed Auwal Ibrahim is a Senior Lecturer of Biochemistry at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria with research interest in therapeutic targets and agents against tropical parasitic diseases and type 2 diabetes. He has over a decade of experience in drug design and discovery, cell culture and a wide range of molecular biology techniques. He is also currently working as a research fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) at the Structure-Based Drug Design Research Group, National Institute for Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Tsukuba, Japan. He obtained BSc and MSc (Biochemistry) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a PhD (Biochemistry) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa followed by a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at University of Pretoria, South Africa. Dr. Ibrahim has authored more than seventy research articles published in impact scientific journals and are currently cited across the globe. Dr. Ibrahim has also won many awards and grants including travel grants by the American Society for Cell Biology and the Carnegie Corporation of New York; and another international travel grant by the Keith R Poster Endowment for Cell Biology to attend an ASCB/IFCB meeting at Philadelphia, USA. This is in addition to three competitive doctoral research grants from South Africa and an Institution Based research grant from the TetFund.  He was also a recipient of the Young Scientist Program Fellowship award by the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Dr. Ibrahim is the assistant secretary General of the Nigerian Young Academy and a member of the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions and Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
