Dr Cynthia Nkolika Ibeto is a Senior lecturer at the University of Nigeria Nsukka. She graduated with a BSc. Degree (Industrial Chemistry) from University of Ibadan in 2004. In 2007 and 2010 she obtained her MSc. and PhD. (both in Analytical Chemistry) from University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). She was an Academic Research Fellow of the National Centre for Energy Research and Development, UNN (September, 2008 to April, 2016) and has worked extensively on the optimization of production processes and analysis of biofuels, especially biogas and biodiesel. Her research area is in the field of Environmental/Analytical Chemistry. She has assessed a variety of persistent organic pollutants in the environment especially soil and is currently working on adding value to waste materials. Her focus is on the use of these materials for bioremediation. She is a member of the UKRI Peer Review College and has received a number of scholarships/awards/travel grants notably; Analytical Chemistry Trust Fund, Developing World Scholarship 2014, Schlumberger Faculty for the Future Fellowship award 2016/2017 and Royal Society of Chemistry Research Mobility Grant 2020, for her research. She was a United Kingdom Young Observer at the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, World Chemistry Congress 2019 and the Periodic Table of Younger Chemists Awardee representing Argon for the celebration of IUPAC 100 and International Year of the Periodic Table. Also, she has received a Gold Award of Excellence (2019) and Fellowship Award (2020) for significant contributions to Chemical Society of Nigeria and the Chemistry profession. She is a member of some Professional bodies, namely: International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, American Chemical Society (ACS), Royal Society of Chemistry, Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria and Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (SESN). She has equally served in different capacities as Vice Chairman, Enugu State Chapter - CSN (2014-2018) and Technical Secretary (Editor in Chief/Technical Editor/Journal Manager), SESN (2013-2017). She is the Coordinator, Women in Chemistry (Nigeria), Vice-Chairman OWSD-UNN Chapter and Faculty Advisor, ACS-UNN Chapter. She has served as Chair of various Scientific Committees, attended several International Conferences and co-authored over fifty publications.
