Brief Biography (English)
Dr Christopher Arthur Holdridge is a historian of the British Empire, with particular focus on settler colonialism in Southern Africa and Australasia in the nineteenth century. His research covers carceral technologies of imperial power, from penal colonies through to prisoner of war camps. He has published on the South African War of 1899-1902, settler politics related to anti-convict campaigns in the Cape Colony and Australian colonies, and on the colonial press in the Cape Colony. He is Y-rated by the South African National Research Foundation (2022-2027).
