Dr Wynand Goosen is a full-time One Health postdoctoral Associate with Stellenbosch University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Division of Molecular Biology and Human Genetics. He specializes in zoonotic infectious diseases of global health importance like TB, Q-fever, Brucellosis, Leptospirosis and many more at the human-livestock-wildlife-environment transmission interface.
He has Published over 18 peer-reviewed research articles in numerous international journals, Presented at 15 international conferences, Organized a TB conference at the University of Cape Town, Inaugurated into the National Geographic Society in 2019 and also identified by the National Science and Technology Forum of South Africa as one of top 10 emerging Researchers in the country during 2019 and 2020.
Dr Goosen is a Scientist by nature and will always have an unhealthy fascination with pathogenic infectious diseases. He believes in leading by example, capacity building and knowledge sharing for the global enhancement of public health.
