Professor Ina Fourie is a Full Professor and Head of the Department of Information Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa. She is also the Exxaro Chair in extended reality (XR) and a member of the Steering Committee of the African Centre for Excellence in Information Ethics (ACEIE) ‒ both hosted in the Department of Information Science. She holds positions in the leadership of the ASIS&T (Association for Information Science & Technology) Executive Board and ISIC (Information Seeking in Context) Steering Committee. She has collaborated with researchers from Israel, United Kingdom (UK), United States (USA), Sweden and The Netherlands. Her research focuses on information behaviour, especially health information behaviour in cancer, palliative care, grief and bereavement, autoethnography, information literacy and more recently participatory design, Third Space and information sharing. She has been a visiting academic to the USA and New Zealand. Prof Fourie holds a South African National Research Foundation (NRF) B2 rating indicating strong international recognition of her work. Her most recent book titles are Autoethnography for librarians and information scientists (editor and author of some chapters; published by Routledge) and Third space, information sharing and participatory design (co-author with Preben Hansen and Anika Meyer; published by Morgan and Claypool). She has published more than 130 scholarly articles, conference papers and book chapters and serve on the editorial advisory boards of several international journals such as Aslib Journal of Information Management, Information Research and Library Hi Tech.
