Professor Timothy Rotimi Fayeye is a professor of Animal Breeding and Genetics at the Department of Animal Production, University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He attended the famous University of Ibadan between 1985 and 1990 where he bagged a first degree in Agriculture with specialisation in Animal Science. He later proceeded to the University of Ilorin in 1993 from where he obtained an MSc Degree in Animal Production in 1995, and a PhD Degree with specialisation in Animal Breeding and Genetics in 2002. Prof Fayeye is a registered Animal Scientist and a member of many professional bodies including Genetics Society of Nigeria, Animal Breeding and Genetics Nigeria, Group (AnBGN), Society for Conservation Biology, Nigerian Society for Experimental Biology, World Rabbit Science Association and American Society for Microbiology. Prof Fayeye has taught Animal breeding and Genetics for about 28 years in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions. His book (Genetic Principles and Animal Breeding) is one the most authoritative textbooks authored by a Nigerian Academic. He is the winner of the 2004 Award for Sustainable Agriculture from Support Africa International, Inc. (Germany) in cooperation with Schweisfurths Foundation, Munich. He is the Founder and Coordinator of Muturu Cattle Research Network- a multidisciplinary network of researchers, farmers and livestock enthusiasts with members in Nigeria, Ghana, Benin Republic among others.
