Brief Biography (English)

Professor Olusola Benjamin Fasubaa was born in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, attended the then University of Ife now Obafemi Awolowo University between 1974-1981 and graduated with BSc Honours in Health Sciences 1974 and MBchB in 1981. He is a fellow of West African College of Surgeon 1994. Started as Lecturer in 1995 at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife and rose to become a Professor in 2004. Prof Fasubaa is a seasoned academics, administrator and researcher. He was also an editor of Tropical Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology 2010-2020 and  author of E-Teaching in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Beyond Borders 2020.

Prof Fasubaa offers community service and research in many areas of women’s health particularly in Reproductive Health. He is active in the West African College of Surgeon of the West African Post graduate medical College and the Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Nigeria where he served as the Editor of the Tropical Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Prof Fasubaais a resource person in the department of Reproductive Health of the Federal Ministry of health and to many international partners of the ministry where he participated in the Development of three National Guidelines on Prevention of Carcinoma of the Service, unsafe termination of pregnancy for legal abortion and the prevalence and cost of unwanted pregnancy in Nigeria from 2017-2020.

Prof Fasubaa is actively involved in the teaching of undergraduate and post graduate students in Obstetrics and Gyneacology for the past 26 years in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and has supervised numerous post graduate students in the National Post Graduate College and the West African Post Graduate College in Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as the MSc Programme of the Institute of Public Health of the College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Prof Fasubaa is an External Examiner to many Nigerian Universities running undergraduate medical programmes and he also is an External Examiner in the Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Post Graduate Medical College of the West African College of Surgeons for almost 18 years. He is currently an adjunct Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.
