Brief Biography (English)
Peter N. Eze is a certified professional soil scientist (Pr. Sci. Nat.) and an associate professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science, Botswana International University of Science & Technology. At BIUST, He leads the Soil-Landscape Systems Research Group. Pivotal to his research in applied and environmental pedology is the quest to understand how soils form, occur, and function at scales from soil micro-pore to the pedon, field, landscape, and beyond in both natural and managed ecosystems as a result of climate and anthropogenic change. To achieve this goal, he uses whole-system approaches to explore soil-landscape relationships and develop mathematical models to predict soil physical, chemical, and biological processes including pollution by potentially toxic elements and spatial distribution of soil nutrients. Furthermore, Palaeosols (fossil soils) have the potential to provide insight into the critical periods of the Earth’s history as they store information about the continental environments and climate in which they formed. One of my core research interests is the reconstruction of environment and climate dynamics using evidence from palaeosol-based proxies.
