Brief Biography (English)

Born at Uromi in Edo State, Nigeria, Professor Patrick Omonua Erah had his primary school education at Egbele Primary School and later St Mary’s Primary School, Uromi before proceeding to Annunciation Catholic College, Irrua for his secondary school education on government scholarship. He then studied Pharmacy at University of Benin, Benin City before he had his PhD in University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 1997. He has equally attended training courses in Bioinformatics in South Africa National Bioinformatics Institute (SANBI), Cape Town (2002), Computer Server Administration as well as Fund Raising Fundamentals. He worked briefly in a pharmaceutical industry (Unik Vacity Nigeria Ltd, Benin City) as a Production Manager and then  as an Assistant Chief Regulatory Officer in National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

He is a Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice and has published many research articles in peer reviewed journals, and served as external examiner for different Universities locally and internationally. He has equally held many administrative positions within the University of Benin, served in different local, national and international committees, and has been a consultant to The Global Fund, the Nigeria’s National Assembly, the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria and different pharmaceutical industries in Nigeria.  He is a fellow of the West African Postgraduate College and an Extra-Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion in the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City.
