Dr Willy Engelbrecht has 10 years of relevant higher education experience which includes lecturing modules within both commerce and education faculties at both private and public higher educational institutions in South Africa and abroad. He is a strong believer of transdisciplinary research which also informs teaching practices. I have a strong foundation in commerce (PhD in Tourism Management) and supplemented that with an MEd in Educational Management. The completion of the MEd enabled him to further his research activities within the higher education landscape, which in South Africa is under-researched. Dr Engelbrecht published journal articles within both the tourism and educational sectors. He also published various textbooks within the commerce discipline and that enabled me to become even more versatile and obtain a better understanding of the broader commerce discipline.
Dr Engelbrecht uses research and research activities to explore new disciplines with experienced field experts. That allows me to grow my own research portfolio which is mostly around transdisciplinary research projects. The ability to quickly and easily adapt to new disciplines as well as work with discipline experts on research projects is not something most academics are accustomed to, He, therefore, sees his ability to conduct transdisciplinary research as an asset to any institution or department.
