Professor Ahmed Mourtada Elseman is an Associate Professor and Acting Head of the Electronic and Magnetic Materials Department at the Central Metallurgical Research & Development Institute (CMRDI), Egypt. He received his BSc, MSc, and PhD in Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry from Al-Azhar University, where his research focused on the development of advanced materials for perovskite solar cells. He further expanded his expertise through specialized training in renewable energy technologies in China and was awarded the prestigious Talent Young Scientist Program (TYSP) Postdoctoral Fellowship funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China at North China Electric Power University (2017–2018). He subsequently served as a lecturer at Southwest University, Chongqing, China (2018–2020).
Dr Elseman's research focuses on perovskite solar cells, photovoltaic materials, semiconductor nanomaterials, charge transport materials, and advanced functional materials for renewable energy applications. He has authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications, with an H-index of 29 (Scopus) and 34 (Google Scholar), and has successfully led and participated in numerous national and international research projects.
He currently serves as an Editor of Energy, Ecology and Environment (Springer Nature), Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Materials Technology and Innovation, and Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Photonic Materials and Technology. He is also an active reviewer for many high-impact international journals in materials science, chemistry, and renewable energy. Dr Elseman has received several prestigious recognitions, including the 2023 State Incentive Award in Advanced Technological Sciences from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), the 2025 CMRDI Incentive Award in Science, and inclusion among the World's Top 2% Scientists (2024). According to SciVal, he was ranked No. 1 in Africa and Egypt in his research field during 2020–2024. He also served as Rapporteur of the ASRT National Committee for New and Advanced Materials (2022–2025). His research aims to advance sustainable, low-cost, and high-performance materials for next-generation energy technologies while promoting excellence in scientific publishing and international collaboration.
